Orange Roses Summer Dress

IMG_0770IMG_0772IMG_0771

  • Pattern: M7500, View A, McCall’s
  • Fabric: Rayon Challis Rose Bouquet Black/Mustard
  • Modifications: Used the gathered panel only in the top center; underlined the entire bodice with cotton lawn; used an all-in-one facing instead of a lining; used the longer skirt length with the ruffle; invisible zipper.
  • Comments: I made a fairly small size to fit my shoulders, which ended up a little tight across the bust, so I tried to make up for it by sewing the seams on either side of the center panel at 1/2 inch instead of 5/8. It’s still a bit tight in the bust, though! I left out the darts in the waist back, which actually made this size fit just right in the waist. But then I had to add darts in the back at the neckline since it was really gaping there. Also, not sure if that horizontal seam in the center front should be below the bust?? Anyway, although I’m pretty happy with this, all the fitting issues just kind of made me wish I’d stuck with a bodice pattern I already knew fit well!

Navy Lady Skater

  • Pattern: Lady Skater, cap sleeve, Kitschy Coo
  • Fabric: Nike Dri-Fit jersey in navy blue
  • Modifications: Added pockets; extended skirt length by 2-3 inches.
  • Comments: Comfy, attractive, and quick to sew, as usual! The fabric was easy to sew and a good medium to heavy weight (definitely would be good for leggings).

(Trying out a new, simpler format to try to get myself to post my projects here rather than just on Instagram!)
